Out of the Window

A lot of times I catch myself looking out of my window

I realize I am not looking at anybody, neither am I looking at a car or another object

I just kneel on the bed or in the sofa and peek through the window looking at nothing physical

Two days ago, I caught myself doing the looking again

Then it occurred to me

I look out of my window because I see beyond the physical

In my mind swims a flock of thoughts

I look out of the window and I reminisce over good times I have had

Out of the window, I see the days I hunched in pain and sadness

I remember the hugs, the resounding laughter I shared with some friends and the stupid fights we had

When I look out of the window, I wonder the next direction my feet will take me

I wonder again the people I may meet tomorrow

Which people will I meet when I step out of my door?

When I look out that window of mine, I hope in my heart to touch another heart

I hope to sooth your soul with my words

Out that window my eyes see beyond the physical

Those eyes see the strength I still have to:

Retake my Mistakes

Reach the Unreached

Do the Undone

Speak the Unspoken

Touch the Untouched

And

Love the Unloved

It is out of the Window I see beyond the visible

OUT OF THE WINDOW

Is it Negligence or is our Prejudice justified?

It’s as if we are all living in a world where we suspect someone for one thing or the other.
You sleep late at night and wake up with a headache; the next thing you say is someone used your head to play football at night;

You fail your exams after you did not put enough effort into your academic work and you tell me someone put cotton wool in your head;

What about when you spend your youthful age stuffing your digestive system with alcohol, and lots of “fry-fry” foods and end up with diabetes and paralysis, wont you be the same person to say someone put a charm on your seat in the office?

Girls and women drink all sorts of concoctions from grounded glass to strange looking herbal mixtures just to remove unwanted pregnancies and then when the pregnancy doesn’t show up when they need it, they blame their aunties, mothers and grannies for eating their babies.

You refuse to wipe the wet floor after a few drops of water find their way there while doing your chores and when you slip and fall flat at the same spot, you say the witches are at work again? Oh come off it!
Why would you leave a lit candle on your plastic or wooden table and when your apartment gets burnt, you say the enemies are throwing their missiles at you again? It is negligence for goodness sake.

Of course I know sometimes, there are spiritual forces that work against man’s ability to get to the top, but I believe that most of the negative experiences we have are aftermaths of certain negligent actions on our part at one point or the other. We need to therefore concentrate on taking charge of the little things that we can change so as not to be taken by surprise.

It’s not always the work of witches and enemies that affect us; I can bet that a little action or inaction on our part can leave more scars and tears than what those we usually blame would do!
Think about it.....
